Jack's New Yorker Deli ~ Atlanta, Georgia

First visit: Apr 2024 (Buckhead)

They have a second location in Smyrna.

OK, the RJG is back in Atlanta. Last year it was a personal stop on the way to a work visit in South Carolina. This time it's the final destination as I'm here for two days of training. To keep things easier, I'm not going to cram in a half day of record shopping. There's one direct flight from the Springs, and that's on Delta at first light. Ya know, they didn't even give us a snack or a beverage. What the heck is that? There was no reason that I could tell, and they didn't explain why. So by the time I got checked into the hotel after 12, I was starving (got up at 3:30!). I have no idea what's in store for dinner tonight, and more on that as the situation develops. I'm in Buckhead and there's plenty of options within walking distance. Jack's New Yorker popped up, and that's exactly what I want - a big ol' sandwich.

Except I didn't get a big ol' sandwich. I got a little ol' sandwich. Visions of East Coast back at home or New York Deli Southside in Santa Fe were quickly dashed. Here they give you a pressed pastrami sandwich on toasted rye and spicy mustard (Peachtree Pastrami they call it). It certainly was delicious but I needed more sustenance. Chips are complimentary so I grabbed a bag of Zapp's BBQ. I was expecting homemade. I guess I should have gotten the fries. There was an option to double the meat, and now I understand why. Kind of pricey for what I got.

Jack's is in a nice office building setting, and you can sit outside or in. Order at the counter. They ask for an unearned tip.

They have a lot of nice looking items on the menu. I'd be up for trying it again. Lunch was delicious, just needed more of it.
