We finally made it to Josh & Johns for our annual visit. Not that the person working there could be bothered to care. Her nose was deep into her phone. Eventually she noticed there were two customers standing, anxiously awaiting some ice cream awesomeness. Slowly she wanders to the counter. And just stands there looking at us. Not "Hi, welcome to Josh & Johns, what can I get for you today?". Nope - just a blank stare. Hurry up so I can get back to my phone apps. She dutifully filled our order with no chance of getting an extra. Weighed it to ensure we got the least possible. She did the needful, as my Indian friends say. Why are restaurants in business if they don't want customers? The ice cream was delicious as always. Pity that the owners can't find a single employee who knows what customer service means. Maybe we don't go back. Alden's Ice Cream at Sprouts is pretty doggone good. And a heck of a lot cheaper. Despite our misgivings, Josh and Johns managed to open another location in Colorado Springs, bringing the total to 4. Maybe they have better employees there than up here in Flying Horse.

Back for our first return of 2024. On this visit I had the Salted Peanut Butter Cup and Mrs. RJG went for the Almond Joy. Both in the homemade waffle cone (+$1). The cone was sweet, crispy, and delicious. The ice cream was the correct small portion, but we've become accustomed to getting more. Bummer that. Still my favorite ice cream joint in Colorado.
Current locations: Colorado Springs (3); Fort Collins; Loveland. The latter a relatively new addition.

Let's just get right to it - the is the RJG's favorite ice cream place. Ever. In the RJG's first tour of duty here in the Springs, I was quickly introduced to Josh & John's, and I can honestly say I've never had better ice cream. It's not the creamiest, in fact almost the opposite, but the flavor really comes through. It's almost chewy. Though in the last year they phased out my favorite flavor Pikes Peak Coffee. Boo. But they still have a java chip that's quite delicious. Mrs. RJG enjoys their Butter Pecan, and we both love good old fashioned Dutch Chocolate. There was a time when you could find Josh & Johns at the local grocery stores, and they also did a turn in Denver when we lived there.During the hard lockdowns, one of the rare treats was for Mrs. RJG and I to head to downtown (free parking during that period only) and enjoy a small dish. Our local store was closed at the time. But they're back to normal (mostly) and we on (rare occasion) will indulge.
