About The Regular Joe's Guide

Established in 2008, The Regular Joe's Guide is a defiantly independent, non-profit, anonymous blog dedicated to providing information about the enormous amount of great restaurants out in the world today. We do this as a public service, with no personal benefit. It is important to maintain our anonymity in order to be completely objective, and not be swayed by freebies or other promotions. We like great food, and it can be a 5 star restaurant, a family diner, a taco truck, or an established fast food place. We're not food snobs at the RJG.

Mr. and Mrs. RJG are based in Colorado Springs. We moved here in May of 2018, after having resided in the DFW area since 2003. We lived in the area known as Northeast Tarrant, which sits northeast (and east) of Fort Worth proper. It's a suburban enclave of communities near DFW airport, and makes for a reasonably easy commute to north Dallas. As such it was the perfect place to start the Regular Joe's Guide as new restaurants popped up everywhere. The blog started in 2008 while I had a stable leadership role with AT&T that lasted until late 2016 when they divested the business unit. That same year I joined a Baltimore, Maryland based company with a global footprint. That led to a lot of Baltimore area reviews, though we continued to live in NE Tarrant. Because I no longer needed to stay in DFW, Mrs. RJG and I had wanted to return back to Colorado. Prior to relocating to DFW, we lived in Denver since we were married in 1997. And prior to that I had lived in Denver (1995-1997) and Colorado Springs (1993-1995). I grew up in Dallas (city of - NW side), left for college in 1983 and graduated in 1987 (Texas Tech - Lubbock). Moved back to DFW where I started my career: Addison (1988-1991); Carrollton (1991-1993). Also worth noting that we had a summer townhouse in Denver from 2009 to 2011 to escape the unbearable heat of Texas. I've also traveled all over the country and world for work and pleasure. My only regret is not capturing all of it since 2008 for this blog.  Too many projects and not enough time. Finally in 2021 it seems we have finally been able to dedicate the right amount of time to the blog. The Baltimore run ended in May of 2022, though we hope to go back on a personal visit. Or who knows, I could very well find myself back there for business with my current company.

A few years after starting the blog, my long time friend Mr. Music began to contribute. We both shared a love for music and travel and our interests are very much alike. We first met in 1989 via a record show and have maintained our friendship ever since. He still lives near Denton, Texas, but his significant other gal (Lady Music) lives in Long Beach, California. Hence the California focus. Though currently I'm working for a Bay Area company, so I hope to get back often as well.

As the blog looked to be shuttering down in 2018, Rude Dante popped up out of nowhere and offered his services thus keeping the flame alive. I first met Rude in 1995 at the company we both worked for in Denver, and we have been good friends ever since. He is from NW Indiana, spent considerable time in Ohio - and has been a resident of Denver since 1995 (naturally enough). Because he's back working in Cincinnati, we have added Ohio and Kentucky as focus states.

The other state that gets a lot of attention is New Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. RJG try to get there once a year for at least a week. And Mr. and Lady Music also drive through on their back and forth ventures. And look for Wyoming to get a little love from us as well.

The above will continue to evolve - this I'm sure of.
