Much has changed in the world of Goat Patch since I last updated this post. All for the good. First they bought out Pikes Peak Brewing in Monument, but left the branding intact (hooray). And now they opened up a brewpub right here in RJG land. Across the street no less! In the same shopping center of RJG fave Zapata Tacos. This is the closest we've ever lived to a local brewery. And it seems they took our advice (and others I'm sure) that no one "owned the north" of Colorado Springs. Which is crazy considering this is one of the nicest parts of town. Of course it takes money to do that, but apparently Goat Patch has been very successful. So much so, they're also canning their beers. Likely because they took over Pikes Peak which did similar.
I've been wanting to go since they opened, but there's always some reason why we didn't. Finally we found the perfect Thursday night, and off we went. They renovated a former gym, and the brewpub is a large space with hardwood floors and a welcoming atmosphere. Their menu is very limited, primarily pizzas and salads, similar to Cogstone in that way. A wise choice too since they can focus on what they do best. We each had a beer to start. I went with an Altbier something you rarely see anymore. Mrs. RJG stuck with her standard hazy IPA, which is one of their flagship beers. Then we ordered our pizzas. Mine was the Mountain Goat (meats) and hers was the Alpine (cheese - margherita by any other name). We asked for it slightly crispy - and that's exactly what we got! Oh, Mrs. RJG was so happy. As was I. And we learned that they have a Tuesday night special. Two pints and two pizzas for $25. We're all about that. Seems a monthly visit is in order, given how close it is. Too far to walk unfortunately, but a five minute drive tops.
This change is significant, so I'm moving the post forward rather than just an update.

Goat Patch anchors a renovated old elementary school, that features many small business and food related items. It's a popular spot, but plenty of room to sit at the bar or grab a table inside, or a bench outside. Goat Patch has slowly risen to becomes one of Colorado Springs most popular breweries. As I continue to document all of Colorado Springs' breweries, Goat Patch ended up being towards the end since it was one of the few I visited during the pandemic.
Food trucks are often available, and I took advantage of this on my last visit (Witty Pork's).
